Agata Warchalska-Troll, Ph.D.

In addition to topics related to mountain environments, since my Master's thesis, which examined social and spatial challenges of large post-socialist housing estates in Katowice (Poland) – urban studies have also held an important place in my academic work. For over 10 years I have been working at the Institute of Urban and Regional Development (Kraków, Poland), where I led interdisciplinary research on the social and environmental aspects of urban green spaces. I also served as editor of the quarterly Urban Development Issues.
At the Institute of Environmental Sciences, I work as an assistant professor (postdoc), within the HORIZON Europe program project Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment – "VALues and dependence of society on pollinatORs" (VALOR). My research here focuses on the intangible values and ecosystem services provided by wild pollinators.
My research interests cover social reception of nature conservation, environmental justice, traditional land use practices in the context of local communities’ attachment to nature, as well as green compact cities.
