Participation in the National Debate and Scientific Conference "Our Planet"
As part of the National Debate and Scientific Conference "Our Planet" (2nd edition), results developed under the OPUS project "Unlocking Urban Potential: Fostering Multispecies Justice in Informal Green Spaces" were presented during a poster session.
The poster focused on the role of Informal Green Spaces (IGS) in enhancing urban biodiversity. The presented research was a case study of an area in Borek Fałęcki (Kraków) and was based on the analysis of data from camera traps, which allowed for the quantitative identification of fauna inhabiting the studied site.
Key findings include:
- Biodiversity confirmation: The results confirmed the presence of several species of mammals and birds.
- Ecological value: Even seemingly abandoned and unmanaged areas can perform vital ecological functions, serving as sites for foraging, movement, and temporary habitation for wildlife.
- Urban planning impact: The presentation highlighted the significance of IGS for urban planning and the necessity of incorporating them into biodiversity conservation strategies and the development of green infrastructure.
