About the Guide
The guide has been developed to support those organising scientific conferences and other events on the Jagiellonian University Campus in accordance with the recommendations of The Jagiellonian University 2030 Environment and Climate Strategy, respect for the natural environment and the well-being of conference participants. In this way, we strive to achieve the standards of a sustainable university, which in the current times of climate crisis is crucial for the environment, but also strengthens the credibility of the Jagiellonian University in the eyes of its partners and the social environment.
It proposes specific, practical and realistic solutions for local application, developed during two workshops attended by people from various departments of the Jagiellonian University and from outside the university.
Guide content
The guide is divided into nine chapters – thematic sections covering the key dimensions of conference sustainability identified by us, which are influenced by the decisions of organisers. Each chapter includes examples of good practices from people who have organised various conferences in the past, both in Poland and abroad. This section concludes with additional materials, including a checklist for conference organisers to help them take sustainability issues into account during the planning, implementation and post-event phases.
The guide is only available in ‘virtual’ form, in a format that is not print-friendly.
